Mileposts
Every day, we can take a step toward God. Character development is a process. Along the way, we take some major steps that mark a new phase in our spiritual maturity.
First, we develop a curiosity about spiritual matters and learn the Big Story of God. We see the big picture of why we're here and what this life is all about. We gain trust in the Bible. (Explore the Bible and find a reading plan at YouVersion or Heartlight. And get an easy-to-read overview of the Big Story by reading Epic: The Story God Is Telling, which you can pick up for free at our weekend experience.)
Once we have a grasp of the Big Story, we may decide to follow Jesus and be baptized. Baptism is a symbol and a public expression of that decision. More
As we move forward in our spiritual journey, we commit to a spiritual community. We consistently attend services, participate in a life group, share our talents by serving on a team, give a faithful tithe (ten percent of our income), and continue to learn and live by what the Bible teaches. We are increasingly consistent with fostering a personal relationship with God, praying and reading the Bible daily, and we become more and more like Him.
When we are mature in our faith, we are spiritual leaders, consistently modeling our love for God and love for people in a way that encourages others in their spiritual journey.
